Structured electronic invoicing between businesses will become mandatory from 2026: what do you need to do?

From 1 January 2026, all Belgian companies subject to VAT will have to exchange structured electronic invoices directly between software systems via the Peppol network.

From this date on, you will receive your ENGIE invoices via the Peppol network.

Frequently asked questions

How does structured electronic invoicing work?

Structured electronic invoices will be sent via a decentralised network called Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online). To receive your energy bills, your accounting software will establish a secure connection with this Peppol network, to which ENGIE is also connected. Peppol can be compared to a telecommunications network. Thanks to this network, data is exchanged securely and in a structured manner between different applications.
